Unconfirmed Comets


This is the only on-line catalog of unconfirmed comets or "comets that got away". These are comets which were detected either visually or photographically, but for which not enough positions were acquired to calculate an orbit or the orbit was too speculative.

This catalog also contains misidentifications which led to announcements of a comet discovery or recovery.
