Discovery
IAU Circular, No. 1591 (1957 March 26) reported that Rijves (Tartu) had discovered a comet on 1957 March 17.77. The magnitude was given as 10 and the daily motion was -33s in right ascension and -16' in declination.

A telegram from Martynov was received at the Central Bureau on March 26 which said object Rijves had not been verified..
